Let It Snow
Who'd have thought of Winter Wonderland as a gentle bossa nova or White Christmas as a bass led jazz-funk groove? well here it is: LET IT SNOW - A Christmas card from Hamish Stuart and friends – a collection of classic, feel good Christmas songs arranged in an new and exciting way and performed in a warm, intimate setting.
The basic trio of Hamish Stuart on guitars and vocals, bass player Steve Pearce and drummer Ralph Salmins are enhanced by the inimitable Jim Mullen on guitar, Matt Irving on accordion, Pete Murray on keyboards and Steve Sidwell, flugelhorn.
'Simplicity' and 'intimacy' were key words in defining the style the trio wanted to achieve and drummer Ralph Salmin's cosy studio was the perfect setting in which to record. The vocals are performed at a 'conversational' level, and in some cases almost whispered – perfectly supported by a sensitive touch on bass and drums.
